Deciding what shoe size to get for your 7-year-old is hard to do especially since kids are constantly growing out of everything because they are just growing faster than a weed!

What shoe size does a 7-year-old usually wear? 7-year-olds usually wear about a child’s size 1 shoe. This can obviously vary on whether or not your kid has the average size foot or not, but this is the most common shoe size for this age group.
Not only is knowing the right sizes of shoes to get your kid, but it’s also super hard to know where to go for this kind of stuff too and find something they will actually want to wear!
We all know and understand World War III that commences when mom says “Okay kids! Get your shoes on so we can go!” I have you covered there, though because, after some of my shopping tips, they will love showing off their cool shoes that are completely mom-approved!
Also, if you want to give your child an enormous headstart/jumpstart with their reading, I can’t recommend this program any more highly, take just a minute and check it out.
How to Find out What Size Shoe Your 7-Year-Old Is:
It’s hard to tell if your kid has an average size foot or not and, more importantly, what size shoe they actually need. One of the best ways to figure out what shoe size your kid is, is to go shoe shopping and use one of the shoe size scales or charts that the shoe section usually has in department stores of shoe specific company stores.
This isn’t always an accessible or viable option for you, though. Your kids are crazy busy and, aside from that even, they don’t like going to run errands or shopping. It’s a real struggle as a mom.
Lucky for you, I have included a sizing chart for you to check out! This awesome chart Has the actual measurement units so that you can just measure the length of your child’s foot and compare it to the chart to figure out their size.

What shoes should I get for my 7-year-old?
7-year-olds, as we all know, are very active and playful kids. They are in the middle of their little kid, prime play time phase. They run around, they jump up and down, and they never stop moving!
It’s like they have infinite amounts of renewable energy! When these crazy heathens aren’t running around, they are sleeping for a few hours at night so that they can do the same the next day.
Due to their very high activity level, I would say getting your 7-year-old a cute pair of sneakers or tennis shoes will never be a bad idea. These shoes are great for playing in due to this type of shoe’s durability and versatility.
Usually, when you think sneakers or tennis shoes, I’m sure you are thinking of the ugly running shoes you have hidden in the back of the closet. Because who needs to go on runs when kids run you so hard you almost go crazy, right?
Keeping up with little kids is like a Cross-fit workout in itself! However, kids shoes don’t have to be ugly running shoes. In fact, you can often find super good sneakers that are also super cute for kids too.
You don’t have to limit yourself to plain old sneakers either. One of my favorite shoes at that age was Converse. They were super cute and trendy while also being ridiculously durable and comfortable.
I’m not a Vans fan myself, but Vans are also awesome shoes to get your kids! The bonus of Converse and Vans for your kids, too, is that they come in all kinds of fun colors and designs that are always a crowd-pleaser.
Where are the Best Places to Find Kids’ Shoes?
Now, after knowing what your child might want or what shoes would be good for them, you will need to know where to shop to find the best deals and best quality available. Because no one wants to spend a fortune on kids shoes that will either be trashed or too small in 6 months anyway.
Macy’s
Macy’s is a great place to get kids’ shoes because it has a great selection for kids’ shoes and the styles they usually have in stock are trendy and cute while still being reliable and durable shoes for your kid to wear.
They sell a wide selection of great brands too so you will have choices even if you don’t like certain brands.
JC Penny
JC Penny is very similar to what Macy’s has to offer for kids’ shoe selection. They sell a wide range of brands that are all reliable, durable, and trendy.
Plus, you can find these brands at discount prices most of the time at this store which is always a plus when you have kids and are trying to keep things within a budget.
Ross
Ross is always a great go-to place for kids shoe shopping at ULTRA DISCOUNT PRICES! Their prices can’t be beat for sure. You won’t be breaking the bank when shopping at this store.
Their selection is more sparse than other stores, but sometimes you can find awesome deals on brands like New Balance, Converse, or even Adidas or Nike if you so desire.
Marshall’s
Marshall’s is another awesome place to shoe shop for kids. This store carries great brands and has a decent selection of shoes and different styles while all being at discount prices you’ll love. Their selection is smaller than most, but they always have cute styles in good brands to pick from.
Target
Target is always a go-to for everything for me. They have great clothes, they have awesome home decor, and they have amazing shoes as well! This may be my Target-Fever speaking, but you can never go wrong when shopping at Target no matter if it is online or in store. They have great prices, reliable products, and great styles always!
Famous Footwear
Famous Footwear is my reliable shoe wonderland! This place always has deals going on name brand shoes of any size and style. They are also a store that is JUST focused on selling shoes to people.
No distractions with clothes or home-decor like Target (I have an addiction, but who doesn’t). Plus, this store has a great clearance shoe section in the back too! They have great service and are an awesome source for great shoes.
Related Questions:
Is shopping online for my 7-year-old’s shoes a good route to go? This depends on whether or not you know your kid’s specific size in whatever brand you may be shopping for. For example, if shopping for Converse for your 7-year old and already know that a size 1 fits him or her perfectly, then shopping online for those should be totally fine.
I would actually encourage that because you can sometimes find great deals online and it saves the hassle of having to round up kids to go out and you won’t have to worry about herding cats while trying to shop for their shoes.
However, if you aren’t shopping for a specific brand and don’t know what specific size your kid is in that brand, then I would recommend not doing so because each brand of shoe fits differently. That can make sizing shoes to your kid’s feet complicated, and you wouldn’t want to get shoes for your kid to have them not fit anyway.
