What Kinds of Clothes Do 7-year-olds Like?
This is a hard question to answer because it depends on the kid you are trying to shop for. By this age, the kids are old enough to have opinions about what they wear and what they like wearing and are starting to get their own sense of style.
This makes it hard to determine what your particular 7-year-old will like.
To figure out what clothes they might like I would ask them about their favorite styles and what other things they are into if you want to get them a fun graphic shirt of their favorite show characters or something cute. Knowing what they are into can really help with this process.
Some may want to dress super simple, cute, and classy. Others may want those super fun graphic tees with images plastered on the front and bright colors with their outfits not necessarily matching and they are just having the time of their lives.
It all just depends on the kid!
If you are unsure of what the kid likes, then you can almost never go wrong with something that looks trendy! What is a popular thing that kids that age are into?
There is a good chance that the 7-year-old you are shopping for is into that too. You can never go wrong with a cute t-shirt that has a funny comment or a cute quote on it for sure either. That one is always a hit!
I know that, generally, 7-year-olds enjoy clothes that they can play hard in and mess up guilt free. They are at the age where they just want to play hard all the time and get dirty and try things, so clothes that suit those needs are awesome.
Every child needs a couple sets of nice clothes for more special occasions and events and they will like those too, but play clothes are always great because they tend to go through quite a bit of those due to their hard play habits.
Where Should I Shop for a 7-year-old’s Clothes?
There are tons of places you could get awesome clothes that your 7-year-old will enjoy. It may vary depending on family dress preferences though. I’ll list some of my favorite places to shop for clothes for this age group, though.
Justice is a great place to get clothes for little girls, specifically. They always have trendy styles and bright fun colors. Their shirts are always super quirky and totally fitting for this age group and you can never go wrong when shopping from this store for your 7-year-old.
The prices here are decent and the clothing is made to be durable for this age group’s activity levels.
Macy’s is an awesome store to get classy yet still trendy clothes for your 7-year-old no matter what the gender. They provide high quality, nice clothes at decent prices that both you as parents and your kids will like.
Macy’s keeps their styles trendy yet timeless so that your kid is always in style while loving their still unique style.
K-Mart is cheaper quality and prices than stores like Macy’s, but it is still a good store to shop at for kids clothes. Their clothes are of cheaper quality, but great for kids that want something fun and trendy that are growing super fast and won’t be in those clothes for more than a year.
Depending on the brands you get there you can find really good quality stuff, but other brands may not be as good of quality. It is a toss up sometimes. But for the most part, their clothes are good for kids and they sell awesome play clothes that are trendy.
Target is wonderful to find simple, classy, timeless styles that are in style and you can also find short-term trendy items too. Clothes shopping here for kids has the best of both worlds and it is all good quality that won’t fall apart fast.
Plus, all of the clothes are priced well so you aren’t breaking the bank when you clothes shop either!
JC Penny is the same as Macy’s. This store has great quality clothes at great prices. You can find the classy clothes you usually find at Macy’s, but you will also find super fun, quirky and trendy graphic tees here that will express all of your 7-year-old’s interests and hobbies and help express their uniqueness.
GAP is always a fun store to shop in no matter what age you are! This store has the in-style trends with fun colors that your 7-year-old will love! They have good prices, great quality clothes, and awesome customer service that you can’t beat!
Old Navy was probably my favorite store to shop at when I was younger, aside from Target. Their styles are unique from most styles and are always a hit when it comes to child fashion. They have a great rewards program and the sizes fit well too.
Their customer service is always great and prices are about average for good quality kids clothing that will last.
Ross is a great discount store to find clothing at. They try to keep their styles as trendy as they can, but more often than not their clothing selections are the misfit clothing. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. I have found some of my favorite, unique, and trendy clothing here.
The quality of clothing all depends on the brands you pick out. You can get anything from Calvin Klein to Walmart-like stuff. You just have to know what to look for. The prices here for clothing are exceptional and, although it is a discount store, the clothes are great and the service is too.
TJ Maxx is a store that is harder to shop at for kids clothes than others, but they do carry some. This store is also a great discount store that is actually higher quality than Ross is.
They have quite a bit of misfit clothing too, but they have trendier and more durable clothing than you will find at Ross, all at the same discount prices. I personally LOVE this store and will always recommend it for anyone. It has everything!
I hope this kids clothing guide helps you guys get a bit better of an idea of what to shop for your 7-year-old and good luck on your shopping adventures!
