What Do You Need to Make Awesome Cakes?
There are some crucial things that are needed in order to make really cool cakes. They may seem like simple things but if you don’t have it it can make your cake making job hard.
#1 Cake Mix or Homemade
The first thing you need is to decide if you are going to use a boxed cake mix or if you are going to make your cake from scratch. This is important because it is going to determine how much time you need to bake and create.
Along with this, it is important to decide which cake flavor you are going to use because it can be a lot harder to cover a chocolate cake than a vanilla cake if you don’t prepare for it.
Also, make sure that you have all the ingredients before starting. I cannot tell you the ammount of times I have begun to bake and then realized I didn’t have enough eggs or milk or vegetable oil. Trust me, its frustrating.
#2 Proper Mixing Bowls
When baking any one of these
So if your mixing bowls are too small or if you don’t have enough it can be rather hard.
#3 Multiple Baking Pans
Most of these cakes require two layers that are either the same size and stuck together with icing or they are layered and one of the layers is smaller than the other.
Because of that, it is important to make sure that you have the right amount of baking pans, that they are the right size, and that they are all the same shape either round, square, or rectangular.
#4 Icing and or Fondant
Every decorative cake is going to use some form of icing or fondant, so it’s important to make sure you have some. You can make both from scratch or you can buy both from the store pre-made.
Fondant is easier to decorate with but some find it intimidating. Icing is usually more familiar to people so they choose to decorate with it, but it can take a lot more time and detail work.
A lot of people use both fondant and icing and it works really well for them. It is can be very effective to use both and your cake will probably look more cohesive if you do.
#5 Time and Space
The last thing that you need to make sure you have is the proper amount of time and the space to make this creation happen. It takes a lot of time to bake a cake and give it sufficient cooling time before it will be ready to be decorated.
So, make sure you give yourself enough time. It also takes a lot of space to create cakes like these ones.
It’s good to remember to clear off your counters and get ready for the fun.
How do I Decorate an Awesome Cake for a 7-Year-Old?
Decorating some of these awesome cakes can be stressful but are so rewarding. Before you can jump into the decorating stage of the baking process there are a few things you have to remember.
- Before putting the batter into your pans either fully grease them or line them with parchment (wax baking paper) paper so that your cake will be able to slip out.
- Before putting your cakes in the oven remember to level the top of the cakes. You can do this by dropping the baking pan on the counter repeatedly while the batter is in it.
- Before you start decorating cut off the tops of the cakes that are not smooth and flat so that you can decorate on a flat surface.
Once all the baking is done and before you decorate you want to make sure that you let your cake cool thoroughly so that the fondant and icing don’t melt.
Because there are 10 cakes on this list and it would take me ages to describe how to decorate each one I decided to pick my favorite cake and describe the process for that one.
My favorite cake is (drum roll please) the Emoji cake! I love emojis and I LOVED the movie and so I am going to describe how to decorate the emoji cake.
Te winking face with tongue Emoji cake decorations Steps:
Step 1-
Bake two cakes both in 9-inch round baking pans and let them cool.
Step 2-
After the cakes have cooled, cut off the top of the cakes so that both of their surfaces are flat.
Step 3-
Frost the tops of both of the cakes and them stick them together. After you have done this you should let them chill in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes.
Step 4-
While your cake is cooling add yellow food coloring to your fondant and knead the fondant until it is workable. Then using a rolling pin, roll it into a flat circle about 1/6 of an inch thick and about 11 inches wide.
Step 5-
After your cake has cooled cover it in a light layer of buttercream icing and then gently lift your fondant over your rolling pin and place it over your cake.
Step 6-
Next, you need to shape the fondant to the sides of the cake. It is important that you use an easy-glide smoother so that you don’t leave impressions from your fingerprints.
Make sure you trim the extra fondant off of the bottom.
Step 7-
The next thing to do is color more fondant pink, black, and red and then kneed it. Make sure you leave enough white fondant for the eyes.
Step 8-
After you have colored the rest of your fondant you need to do is roll it out. Your black fondant is going to be the mouth, the winking eye, and the pupil so you need to be able to cut out each of those things.
The pink fondant is used for the tongue, so you don’t need a lot of
The red fondant is going to wrap around the bottom of the cake and have a bow stuck to it. So you need to roll a long thin piece of fondant that is 1/2 an inch wide for the ribbon/bow.
The white fondant is going to be the one open eye, so it needs to be rolled into a circle and the eye needs to be cut out. The eye should be around 2 inches wide.
Step 9-
After all of the fondant is rolled out and all of the pieces of the face are cut out you can then lay them on the cake so that you can figure out where you want everything.
At this time make a little fondant bow out of some of the red fondant.
Step 10-
After everything is placed how you want them to be, use a brush to apply water to the back of your fondant cutouts and then apply them to the cake.
Then you just let it cool and you have a beautiful emoji cake.
